​京都「やまと絵師」物語

                  

                   Once upon a time in Kyoto, there were Yamato-e artists

                whose lives had ended before they could achieve their goals

and others who had worked earnestly and humbly without ever reaching fame.

                        Their passionate tales have never been chronicled

                                 and their names have been lost to history. 

                                      But thier work has not been in vain. 

                        Japanese painting today is imbued with their spirit.

 

                  かつて、道半ばで人生に幕を下ろさざるを得なかった絵師や、

                     名利を求めず、どこまでも愚直に生きた絵師たちがいた。

                                          そうした絵師たちの物語は、

                              歴史の狭間に埋没し、広くは知られていない。

                          しかし、様々な絵師たちが、時を異にしながらも、

                             日本の伝統美を絶えることなく継承してきた。

                                                  「やまと絵」は、

                      千年以上もの間、多くの人々の心を豊かにし潤してきた。

                                 永遠の都「京都」を鮮やかに輝かせてきた。
